It’s a free, family-friendly event that was a huge hit last year, so expect an even bigger turnout in 2026 as Cloverdale celebrates Carnival with its own quirky twist.

Frenchie’s Mardi Gras Block Party lights up the night with live music, food, and plenty of beads and revelry. Frenchie’s, a popular spot in Old Cloverdale, is turning up the volume for Mardi Gras with an outdoor block party you won’t want to miss. The evening starts with high-energy music at 4:30, local favorites, and more. Come hungry because you’ll find Cajun-inspired treats like beignets to satisfy your sweet tooth. Catch throws of beads and MoonPies flying through the air, dance in the parking lot, and mingle with the crowd. This block party brings a little taste of Carnival to Montgomery, blending funky brass beats with Southern hospitality. All are welcome, and admission is free.

On the Saturday before Fat Tuesday, downtown Montgomery transforms into a mini-French Quarter! The City of Montgomery Mardi Gras Celebration on Dexter Avenue is a free, family-friendly street party that brings Bourbon Street vibes to the capital city. Grammy-winning Zydeco artist Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band are headlining, blasting out infectious Louisiana rhythms to get everyone dancing. A high-energy second line parade led by Montgomery’s own Gumptown Brass will march down Dexter, so grab a spot along the route to join in the fun. And did we mention free king cake for the crowd? Yes indeed, enjoy a slice (find the baby in your piece for extra luck!) while you sample goodies from a lineup of food trucks serving Cajun favorites like gumbo, po’boys, beignets, and even a famous vegan twist on Creole cuisine. The celebration doesn’t stop there: look out for stilt walkers, fire dancers, and living statues roaming the street, creating a carnival spectacle at every turn. Kids can get in on the action with craft stations at The Armory (make your own Mardi Gras mask and Valentine crafts!).
