Boating

Life slows down when you enjoy boating on the Alabama River. When you are on the water, whether for fishing or recreation, you can take time to appreciate the unique skyline views of Montgomery as each turn of the river reveals a new scene.

When you are ready to join in the river life on the Alabama River, bring your boat to launch at the Montgomery Marina. Located at the Capitol Oyster Bar, you can use the boat launch for a $5 fee. The convenient location has you just minutes away from popular downtown Montgomery spots like Riverwalk Park where you can see the Harriott II Riverboat. Pull up and enjoy a walk in the park before you head back out on the serene waters of the Alabama River.

Don’t have a boat or didn’t bring yours on this trip? Good news. The Capitol Oyster Bar at 617 Shady Street rents pontoon boats. Rentals for those age 21 or older with a valid driver’s license are available for two, four and eight hours for set rental rates. With approval, you can add on hours. All rentals include a security deposit and a fuel charge. Be sure to bring your fully charged cell phone for safety.

The pontoon boats feature a bimini top to give you a break from the sun. Seating is available for up to 16 people. A swim ladder is included to give you easy access for getting in and out of the water. Bring along your cooler with drinks and snacks to make for a fun day. Just remember to secure your items so they don’t blow out and liter the river. Keeping the Alabama River clean for others to enjoy is a mission that every boater can help with.
