Sheridan Heights Community Center (Renovation)
The Sheridan Heights Community Center has unveiled its renovation, introducing a resurfaced pool, a newly refinished gym floor, a table tennis setup, and a state-of-the-art e-gaming room. These enhancements aim to provide a modern and inclusive environment for all.
Montgomery United FC Soccer Team
Montgomery United FC, established in 2024, is the city's semi-professional soccer team competing in USL League Two. Home matches are held at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex, offering thrilling soccer action and fostering local sports enthusiasm.
King’s Canvas Art Gallery
King’s Canvas Art Gallery in West Montgomery has reopened with exciting new updates, offering an even more inspiring space for underrepresented and emerging artists. Located at 1413 Oak Street, the refreshed gallery now features a dedicated exhibition area with seating, a back studio for creating, a welcoming front deck, and a striking mural on the building’s exterior. Just next door, guests can enjoy a new bookstore and coffee shop, expanding the creative hub’s footprint. The space will now host more frequent exhibitions, including solo shows and artist-led curations. A gift shop is also in the works, adding to the growing creative community anchored here.
Montgomery Whitewater Ziplining Adventures
Montgomery Whitewater is leveling up the thrill with its brand-new ziplining experience! Soar high over the park and take in stunning views as you zip across the dynamic whitewater course. It’s the perfect adventure to top off a day of paddling, climbing, or just spectating riverside. With fun for all skill levels, Montgomery Whitewater’s zipline adds a new way to explore the great outdoors in Montgomery.
Conference of the Birds Mural
Downtown Montgomery just got a little more vibrant thanks to the new "Conference of the Birds" mural by artist Sunny Paulk. Located on the side of The King’s Canvas, this large-scale artwork is inspired by a 12th-century Persian poem and highlights unity through diversity, featuring brilliantly colored birds soaring across a teal background. It’s a must-see photo stop that adds to Montgomery’s growing public art scene.

Originating from Birmingham, Eugene's Hot Chicken officially opened its doors in Montgomery in late September. The restaurant serves Nashville-style chicken, offering a variety of options ranging from bone-in wings to boneless strips and sandwiches. The menu also features a selection of other fried favorites, including fish and pork chops, available for both individual and family-style dining.
Dave's Hot Chicken (EastChase)
Dave's Hot Chicken started its flavorful journey in the neighborhood of East Hollywood nearly eight years ago, quickly captivating the hearts and palates of chicken lovers. Now, this beloved brand is found in cities across the United States, reaching the East Coast, with Montgomery eagerly anticipating the grand opening of its very first location in the Shoppes at EastChase on October 17. This eatery specializes in succulent chicken strips, expertly seasoned and fried to golden perfection, offering an exhilarating array of seven unique spice levels that cater to both the adventurous and the mild at heart. To further entice diners, the menu also features irresistible cauliflower wings, perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor, designed to appeal to a wider range of guests seeking a delicious plant-based option. It’s an experience that promises to ignite the senses and create lasting memories for all who walk through the door.

Now open at 350 N Perry Street, Hero Doughnuts & Buns brings a delightful menu of coffee, donuts, shakes, and sandwiches, including burgers and fried chicken sandwiches. Located near the Legacy Museum and Legacy Plaza, it's a perfect spot for breakfast or lunch.
Chipotle Mexican Grill (Eastern Blvd)
Montgomery's second Chipotle location has opened at 2682 Eastern Boulevard. This fast-casual favorite offers burritos, bowls, and new limited time offers, catering to the city's growing appetite for diverse dining options.
La Trattoria
La Trattoria introduces a taste of New York City to Montgomery. Replacing the former Tomatino's, this Italian eatery offers a cozy atmosphere and a menu filled with mouthwatering dishes, making it a new favorite for Italian cuisine enthusiasts.
Little Donkey (Downtown Montgomery)
Little Donkey is a modern take on Mexican cuisine by blending it with Southern flavors. Menu highlights include hand-pressed tortillas paired with fried chicken, reflecting both Mexican heritage and local hospitality.

Opening its doors in August 2025, Home2 Suites by Hilton at 155 Columbus Street offers modern accommodations in the heart of downtown. Guests can enjoy spacious suites with kitchenettes, complimentary breakfast, and easy access to the city's attractions.
Elevation Convening Center and Hotel
Elevation Convening Center and Hotel, will serve as a research hub, convening space, art gallery, theater, and hotel, blending community, culture, and hospitality. Although thereis another phase in teh works you can already enjoy: AYA Soulful Dining which is open to all, featuring a fusion of African, Caribbean, and Southern roots. Elevation Café as quick serve cafe offering fresh baked goods, sandwiches & more, a state-of-the-art fitness center which is also available for guests and community members. Elevation Convening Center and Hotel was conceptualized by EJI Executive Director Bryan Stevenson, this center aims to complement Montgomery's Legacy Sites and provide visitors with a serene environment to engage with the city's history.

Through powerful art, memorabilia, and digital experiences. You’ll hear voices from players, coaches, and even museum president Bob Kendrick, bringing the triumphs of the Negro Leagues to life.

Big Bad Breakfast is preparing to open a new location in Montgomery's Old Cloverdale neighborhood. Known for its hearty Southern-style breakfasts, this addition will soon offer locals and visitors a delightful morning dining experience.
